Our Projects
UWI Partners with Kenesjay Green and Niterra Co., Ltd. on Transformative Green Hydrogen Initiative (H2-TTransform)
The H2-TTransform Project is a pioneering collaboration between The University of the West Indies, Kenesjay Green Limited and Niterra Co., Ltd. of Japan to advance green hydrogen innovation and industrial decarbonisation in Trinidad and Tobago. This initiative focuses on developing and piloting Solid Oxide Electrolyser Cell (SOEC) technology — a high-efficiency, high-temperature system capable of producing hydrogen with up to thirty percent greater efficiency than conventional electrolysers.

Steam Methane Reforming (SMR)
NewGen is a landmark project designed to produce 20,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year, supplementing hydrogen from Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) for use as feedstock in an ammonia plant. The facility will utilize electrolyser technology powered by solar energy, while improving efficiency through the replacement of single-cycle machines with combined-cycle systems. Once developed, NewGen will stand as one of the largest hydrogen production plants in the Western Hemisphere.
Dominica Country Assessment
In 2022, Kenesjay Green completed a Country Assessment Study to explore the development of a globally competitive green hydrogen industry using Dominica’s geothermal resources.

In 2022, Kenesjay Green completed a Country Assessment Study to explore the development of a globally competitive green hydrogen industry using Dominica’s geothermal resources.
Key Components of the Conceptual Model:
- A Green Eco-Industrial Park to support new geothermal-powered industries
- Central facilities for environmentally sensitive management of water, steam, waste, and garbage
- Development of green infrastructure, including geothermal energy, roads, buildings, and distribution systems
- Proximity to ports and container port facilities to support logistics
The Green Port Infrastructure initiative focuses on sustainable port operations, including digitalization, electrification with green energy, low/no emission technologies, and intermodal transport linking plants to ports. Kenesjay Green led the development of the Scope of Works for the Green Port Feasibility Study in collaboration with Marine2.0 and the National Energy Company. Dominica is now developing a supportive framework to implement these initiatives based on Kenesjay Green’s recommendations.
Pre-FEED Study
Kenesjay Green conducted a pre-FEED study on harnessing Dominica’s geothermal resources to unlock new industrialisation opportunities. This vision will be advanced via a joint venture with the Dominica Electric Company.

Phased Project Approach:
- Identify renewable energy options aligned with the client’s GHG reduction targets
- Screen options against key value drivers to recommend a preferred development pathway
- Advance the engineering process from early design through commissioning
Kenesjay Green’s approach ensures technically and financially viable Scope 2 GHG reduction projects that support sustainable industrial operations.
Project 10X
Project 10X is designed to displace over 80 MMCFD of natural gas currently used for power generation, redirecting it as feedstock for petrochemical plants — significantly increasing the value of each gas molecule to the country. The project proposes a new power system based on wind, solar, and battery storage, enhancing grid redundancy while delivering competitively priced electricity that strengthens national economic resilience.
Nu-Iron
Kenesjay Green successfully completed a comprehensive study for Nu-Iron Unlimited, exploring the integration of renewable energy to support operations at the Point Lisas Estate. The study was delivered in the targeted time and within budget, and its findings will guide more detailed analyses of renewable integration opportunities.
MoU: Port of Antigua
An active Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is in place with the Port of Antigua to assess opportunities for renewable power generation and the supply of renewable fuels for shipping operations.
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
Kenesjay Green has been awarded a regional study covering seven (7) Caribbean ports, to assess their readiness to adopt renewable energy solutions and renewable-based marine fuels to meet emerging global shipping standards.
Power-to-X Applications
In collaboration with NEVLEC, Kenesjay Green is exploring Power-to-X applications for the nation’s geothermal potential, with the goal of enabling industrial diversification and clean energy expansion.

“The Government of Dominica signed a Framework Agreement with Kenesjay Green Limited (KGL) for the development of a green industrial initiative based on the production of green hydrogen and its derivatives. A central feature of the work undertaken to date has been the essential de-risking activities required prior to developing the appropriate business, investment, and financial model. In this regard, we have found KGL to be a reliable, dependable, and competent partner.
KGL is presently completing a pre-feasibility study for a 100MW green ammonia facility in Dominica. This study has been carried out in collaboration with competent international
partners and through continuous engagement with key local stakeholders. To date, we are very satisfied with this effort.
We are also finalising an exploration and drilling plan for a geothermal reservoir in the north of Dominica with the support of JRG Energy Consultants, Cowater International, and the Government of New Zealand. This geothermal resource will be dedicated to this investment. Following exploration drilling, KGL will execute a full feasibility study. Our target is to commence exploration drilling in the first quarter of 2026, with the goal of beginning green ammonia production by 2030.
This novel regional development has required strong collaboration and the creation of the right partnerships to ensure success. In this regard, KGL has been a willing and highly collaborative partner. Together, we have engaged bilaterally with the Governments of Belgium and Trinidad and Tobago as potential offtaker partners; conducted national stakeholder consultations to assess local green hydrogen potential; and jointly engaged regional multilateral financial partners, including the CDB, IDB, and CAF, whose participation is critical to achieving a viable weighted cost of capital.
We have also worked alongside KGL in regional and international forums such as COP and CREF, where they have demonstrated a consistent commitment to partnership and progress.
KGL represents the type of private sector entity with the necessary vision and commitment to partner with governments—an essential element if the region is to achieve a successful low-carbon transition. We are very pleased that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed with KGL to explore and invest in green hydrogen opportunities across the region.
While KGL’s principal challenge lies in limited resources to execute all the essential activities needed to advance its vision, its drive and collaborative approach have been exemplary. We look forward to continued collaboration and to meeting at CREF to provide a status update, next steps, and expectations for Dominica’s green industrial development opportunities.”
